Do the Hokey Poke, that’s what it’s all about!

Move over sushi, there's a new kid on the block…

Ever heard of poke bowls? Where have you been?! Pronounced 'po-kay' (don't worry, it took us a while too), these fresh, vibrant and flavourful bowls have been making a huge splash on the food scene lately. Arguably Hawaii's tastiest export, poke bowls are known for featuring slices of marinated raw fish and a huge variety of tasty toppings. Here at Deliveroo, we've been getting caught up in the poke hype and feel that it's only fair to share our latest obsession! Here's a list of all the poke places in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that are going to make you want to hula.

#1 Pineapple Express

Famed for it's chilled out vibe, Pineapple Express has a fantastic array of poke bowls on offer. From raw fish to cooked chicken, this joint has a poke bowl to suit everybody's tastes! If meat isn't your thing, Pineapple Express even offers a tofu-centric vegan option!

We recommend: Posh Fish. This dish comes heaped with salmon, avocado, spring onions, pineapple, wakame seaweed and a dash of truffle ponzu dressing.

#2 SushiArt

Talk about a work of art - SushiArt's gorgeous poke bowls look almost too good to eat! Almost but not quite… Once you've managed to put down your camera and pick up your fork you'll understand how Sushi Art's poke bowls have become the star of their extensive menu.

We recommend: Citrus Sea Bream Poke Bowl. Take a step away from your classic poke-bowl offerings of tuna and salmon with this unique dish. Topped with avocado, vinegared rice, carrot salad, kumquat and ponzu sauce, this sea bream really shines.

#3 Aloha Poke

Helloooo Poke. Settle into the island life with one of Aloha Poke's wholesome and authentic offerings. Or, if you're feeling creative, try your hand at creating your own poke bowl, complete with all of your favourite toppings!

We recommend: The Kuai Bowl. This bowl features ahi tuna, sushi rice, edamame beans, cucumbers, tomatoes and a glug of sesame soy dressing. We're feeling major Japanese / Hawaiian fusion vibes.

#4 Single Fin

Instagram-worthy and totally delish, Single Fin's beautiful creations are always guaranteed to satisfy that poke bowl craving. Warning: ordering this to your desk will result in some seriously envious co-workers.

We recommend: Off the Wall Boat. This dish stars fresh salmon, mango, pickled corn, chilli, pine nuts and a drizzle of (tongue twister alert!) togarashi teriyaki sauce.

#5 Under 500

Fun fact: everything on Under 500's menu has less than 500 calories in it (makes sense, right?). This includes their incredible poke bowls, a new addition to their menu that's been quick to impress.

We recommend: Seared beef. Ok, so it's not your classic fish-filled poke bowl but hear us out, it's still exquisite. It's full of seared tenderloin, red cabbage, jalapeno peppers and fluffy quinoa.

Order from Under 500: JLT | Business Bay | Dubai Marina

Slip your shades on and grab a poke bowl - let's luau.
