Treasures from the deep: 4 jewels in the crown of Dubai’s seafood scene

With the Persian Gulf on our doorstep, it's no surprise that we love seafood here in Dubai. Meaty mussels, fiery paella and zingy shrimp, what's not to like?  We've rounded up four of the best places here in Dubai that offer some of the best seafood goodies.

1. Paella, Urban Seafood

Urban Seafood is big on flavour, freshness and fun. They've got all sorts of seafood goodies on offer here, so if choosing is proving a bit too hard, go for the paella. It packs in all the highlights of the sea in one hearty, rice-based hit. This version is respectful to its Spanish origins, combining saffron-infused rice with juicy calamari, plump mussels and sweet shrimp.

2. Seaview Prawns, Seaview Restaurant

Overlooking Jumeirah Harbour, Seaview take their seafood seriously. They've even got their own boat to reel in the catch, so you know everything's going to be fresh from the sea. Our favourite – the Seaview Prawns – is nestled in the menu's 'Culinary Voyage' section. Finished in clarified butter, these plump beauties have a shimmering sheen that'll make it hard to wait before you dive in fingers first. They're grilled to perfection, with the initial burst of seaside sweetness balanced perfectly against the bitterness of the char and zing of lemon.

3. Crab Bachamel, Bahary Seafood Restaurant

Bahary is an Egyptian eatery where the seafood takes centre stage. They're all about fancy, fresh and fun here – three elements summed up perfectly in their Crab Bachamel. The crabmeat inside is sweet and fluffy, served up with a creamy béchamel topping. The combination works in harmony – intensely flavourful yet not overpowering – and comes served with pickles and bread for extra oomph.

4. Roasted Cod Fillet, Senara

British-born head chef Anthony Reilly is the guy behind the magic at Senara, offering up culinary fusions of his hometown and the Middle East. We love the Roasted Cod Fillet for a taste of these foodie crossovers, where you'll find leek fondue, potato rosti and onion veloute with a delicately roasted cod fillet.
