With classics taken from cookbooks all over the world, you could spend breakfast, lunch and dinner sampling the delights at Shakespeare And Co. – and still go back for more. From rustic Lebanese saj, to Italian pizzas and pastas, rich meaty mains, finger foods and sweet treats – if you can dream it up, it's probably on the menu. So, what are you waiting for?
Spoilt for choice
There's no better place to start than their finger food section. Whether you're looking to kick-start your feast the proper way, or just for some sharers between pals, this is the place to be. Go to town on their Crispy Calamari, dipping in a zingy tartar sauce, or opt for their Piri Piri Shrimps – rustled up with sautéed garlic, coriander and chilli butter – for more of a fiery hit.
Time for a crash course in their mains. Our favourites include the Fettucine Al Funghi – wild mushroom pasta in a light Alfredo sauce. And any place serving up classics from the world over can't miss out on the humble burger. Push the boat out with Gone Fishing – a seared salmon patty with poppy seeds, dill, lemon sour cream and salad that's less bulky than the normal meat choices.
A history of precision
Since they popped up in 2001, Shakespeare And Co. have focused on offering a place you can feel at home. They're all about good vibes, hospitality and 'knowing there's always something to look forward to on the menu'. And with 37 locations around the world and counting, we think they've succeeded in that.
Each restaurant is unique in its colours, décor, and layout. An in-house design team cherry-pick every single piece of furniture and fixture, handcrafted in their very own workshops. And while you don't get the whimsical wallpaper and jazzy cushions when you order in, you'll see that same attention to detail in every dish you order. They opened up a patisserie in 2004, and their sweet creations are as immaculate as you'd expect.
It's just one of their lighter options available though – warming soups, refreshing salads and chunky sandwiches can be washed down perfectly with a cup of infused jasmine lotus green tea. Go for the quinoa salad if you're feeling particularly virtuous, as it's stuffed full of superfood fruits and vegetables, and vegan to boot. And with vegetarian and gluten-free choices, there's something for everyone.
No commentary on Shakespeare And Co. would be complete without a mention of their breakfast and lunch wonders either. For a homey yet luxurious lazy weekend, the decadent and creamy Eggs Benedict or the sweet and tart Blueberry Pancakes are sure to set you up for the day.
